'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the kid from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
